OUR VISION:
No matter what door a patient enters our health care system, we are striving to have the ability to screen and identify them early and get them connected to services before they reach a point of crisis. With an integrated array of inpatient, outpatient, school-based, and crisis programs and services, we are the region’s most comprehensive behavioral and mental health provider.
OUR IMPACT:
Atrium Health offers the region’s largest range of behavioral and mental health services, with seven locations as well as virtual services through primary care, women’s health, and pediatrics. Atrium Health Behavioral Health services treat more than 200,000 patients per year.
In 2025 we served 21,081 patients in Mecklenburg County in Behavioral Health hospital centers and emergency departments. Our outpatient services handled over 250,000 visits.

YOU CAN GIVE HOPE TO OUR PATIENTS THROUGH PHILANTHROPY:
Expanding Capacity: Your support enables patients experiencing a mental health crisis to be served in properly equipped behavioral health care facilities rather than admitted to an Emergency Department. This includes the consolidation and expansion of outpatient services in free-standing clinics with psychiatry services embedded in the clinic.
Wellness Without Walls: Meeting patients where they are Atrium Health Behavioral Health launched a program in September 2025 in collaboration with organizations community-wide, including Roof Above, Alliance Health, and Hearts for the Invisible, and our very own Street Medicine team. This collaboration ensures coordinated outreach and resource sharing as we meet a commitment to equitable access for unsheltered neighbors who are least likely to engage in traditional health care systems.
School-Based Services: Atrium Health’s school-based behavioral health and teletherapy services continue to grow exponentially in the Greater Charlotte Area with plans for continued expansion to ten counties surrounding Rome, Georgia (Atrium Health Floyd). In 2025, Atrium Health Behavioral Health launched school-based psychiatry services for middle and high school students in Stanley County, giving them quick access to care for psychiatric needs. As the program continues to expand, the average wait time for a school-based psychiatry appointment has decreased to less than two weeks.
