Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute serves the greater Charlotte area as the most comprehensive site for orthopaedic surgical and spine care in the Southeast — and beyond. With philanthropic support from our donors, Atrium Health offers state-of-the-art facilities and clinical care, as well as top-ranked training programs in surgery and spine care, and leading-edge research facilities to complement patient care. There are many opportunities to support the Musculoskeletal Institute through philanthropy, including:
- The Orthopaedic Research Advancement Fund — Supports capital improvements, specialized equipment, educational conferences, resident research studies, and other items designed to advance the research efforts of the Orthopaedic Surgery Department at Carolinas Medical Center.
- The Edward N. Hanley Jr., MD Endowed Chair for Ortho Surgery — Supports resident and fellow educational opportunities, investigator initiated research projects, and leadership development at Carolinas Medical Center.
- The Carolinas Sports Medicine Fund — Supports Atrium Health’s sports medicine and injury care programs for adolescents, adults and seniors across the hospital system.
- The Carolinas Muscular Dystrophy Research Fund — Supports research for select types of muscular dystrophy, particularly Limb/Girdle, which is currently being conducted at Carolinas Medical Center’s McColl-Lockwood Laboratory for MD Research.
- The Dr. Jerry & Audrey Petty Endowed Professorship in Spine Surgery — Honoring the exceptional, patient-centered care provided by Dr. Jerry Petty, the Endowed Professorship in Spine Surgery supports the education of the next generation of leaders in Spine Surgery, and research innovations to improve the care of patients with spine injury or disorders.
- Hendrick Family Endowed Professorship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery — Created to honor the highly specialized care provided to a member of the Hendrick family, the Endowed Professorship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery supports strategic research and education initiatives envisioned the MSKI leadership to provide care for children with hand disorders such as Brachial Plexus Nerve Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Congenital Hand Deformity, and more associated with the Musculoskeletal Institute at Atrium Health’s Mercy Hospital.
